Conversations with Nick Brown

For over 150 years, Rutherglen has been celebrated for its exquisite, fortified wines, including the richest and rarest 100-plus-year-oldNV All Saints Estate Rutherglen Museum Muscat, (awarded 100 points by Halliday Wine Companion). However, winemaker Nick Brown says Rutherglen has much more to offer. With its ideal climate and diverse soil composition, the region is ripe for producing a variety of table wines, includingMarsanne,Shiraz, andDurif. Brown emphasises the region's evolution beyond fortified wines, showcasing its progressive spirit and commitment to innovation. 

Reflecting on his family's rich history in Rutherglen, Brown traces his lineage back to his grandfather's humble beginnings as a grape transporter. Today, the family are an integral part of the region's landscape, having acquiredSt Leonards Vineyardin 1980 and All Saints Estate in 1991. Their dedication has helped propel Rutherglen wines onto national and international stages, showcasing the breadth and depth of its offerings. 

As Rutherglen continues to evolve, there's a future filled with promise and opportunity.
