Top Ten Christmas Food & Wine Pairings

29 November 2021

What to drink with oysters, turkey or even trifle? Whether your approach to Christmas is low key, or you’re the type of host who strives to impress with all the trimmings, this list has all your pairing needs covered.

NV All Saints Estate Excentrique Sparkling

A great example of a non-vintage sparkling wine showing the benefits of some extended time on lees. Perfect with freshly shucked oysters, or grilled tiger prawns and chermoula butter.

NV All Saints Estate Prosecco

Lifted with delicate aromas of green apple and pear with a hint of citrus, the All Saints Prosecco is oh-so easy drinking. Perfect before dinner with canapes, particularly with fish like sardines or even some antipasto.

NV All Saints Estate Sparkling Shiraz

For something a little different (and unashamedly Australian), try a sparkling Shiraz with its dark berry fruit aromatics and subtle vanillin oak characters. Soft, full, and flavoursome with an intense and persistent palate and great structure, a perfect pairing to turkey with fruit stuffing and duck fat potatoes.

21 All Saints Estate Pinot Grigio

A crisp, light, refreshing wine with delicate aromas of peach and pear, finishing with elegant well balanced acidity. Pinot Grigio is easy drinking and care free, ideal for casual dining with simple dishes. It makes a wonderful partner to light pastaand salads, our personal favourite, a grilled peach pasta salad with fusilli, olives and almonds.

21 All Saints Estate Rosa

The 2021 Rosa is made of 51% Sangiovese and 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, which results in fresh berry aromas and savoury notes that carry through the wine until the finish. It’s a light provincial style rosé and the perfect drink for warm afternoons and balmy evenings. Match it with leftovers of cold honey mustard glazed ham.

19 All Saints Estate Family Cellar Marsanne

Our Marsanne has intense aromas of pear and quince, on the palate these are combined with layers of creamy texture and earthy, nutty flavours from French oak and yeast lees. This is a richly flavoured wine with crisp acidity and subtle oak. It’s the perfect partner to sticky glazed or roast chicken recipes.

21 St Leonards Vineyard Cabernet Franc

A distinctly lighter and more savoury style red wine with a wonderful, lifted aroma of red fruits and dried herbs. Well balanced with lively acidity and fruit coupled with just a hint of oak. Match with a boned and rolled turkey breast, garnished with crisp sage leaves for a final festive touch.

18 All Saints Estate Pierre

Named in honour of Peter Brown on the date of his 60th birthday, this Cabernet blend now carries far more resonance for all who work or play here at All Saints Estate. At Christmas it’s best suited to traditional roast leg of lamb with rosemary, as the herbal, gamey flavours of the lamb are in harmony with thewine’s elegant fruit and earthy notes.

18 All Saints Estate Durif

An Australian red with excellent depth of colour, soft, ripe fruit flavours and a firm finish make this an elegant Rutherglen Durif. The rich flavours and firm tannins of Durif are very well suited to hearty dishes. Try pairing it with a rich beef rib roast, mushrooms, red onion and horseradish jam.

NV All Saints Estate Classic Rutherglen Muscadelle

Our premium fortified wine range contains some of the finest wines of their kind in the world, and our Classic Muscadelle is no exception. Sip with blue cheeses such as Stilton or enjoy with cheese or cream based classic Christmas desserts such as pavlova or trifle.
