Making wine, like tending a garden or following a footy team, is a yearly cycle.
End of Vintage 2012
I'm not sure if this is the longest vintage I have ever done, but it certainly feels like it.
If our start in the first couple of days of February with Chardonnay seems like months
ago - I guess that's because it is months ago!
7 tonnes of pristine Chardonnay from St Leonards for the (you guessed) St Leonards Chardonnay.
Many of you will have seen our Grand Tawny solera; it is the pyramid stack of small barrels at the end of the Great Hall at the winery. It has been the backdrop for countless publicity photos and is a striking feature of the room where we hold so many of our fantastic parties. To us, of course it is far more than that as it holds the stocks of our brilliant Grand Tawny, 10,000L of the gorgeous sump-oil textured stuff to be precise.
We recently entered our Rutherglen Muscat in a competition, the International Muscats-du-Monde. For our wine to come out with a Gold Medal is brilliant, we are very pleased indeed.
