Thousand Pound Wine Bar & Store in Rutherglen Victoria has won ‘Best Small Bar’ in Victoria and Tasmania in the 2017 Savour Australia’s Restaurant and Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for excellence this week.

Restaurant and Catering Awards CEO Juliana Payne commented “The Awards for Excellence is a wonderful opportunity to properly recognise and congratulate each of the businesses who have delivered outstanding customer service and memorable culinary experiences for thousands of customers throughout the year”.

The wine bar and store developed by Denis Lucey (Bottega Melbourne and Luxsmith, Seddon) and the All Saints Estate siblings, Eliza, Angela and Nick Brown tosses out stuffy pretences and blurs the boundaries between city and country bringing a modern city vibe to the Rutherglen region. Thousand Pound Wine Bar & Store offers an extensive wine list where guests can sip and swirl their way through the best wines the region has to offer or venture globally from their seat at the bar. The wines are paired with a popular menu focusing on shared entrée’s and quality steak designed by Simon Arkless and his team from Terrace Restaurant at All Saints Estate. Excellent customer service is a focus with Bec Deslandes heading up the front of house team. Eliza Brown said “We are so proud of the excellent crew we have at Thousand Pound who make the place a vibrant and atmospheric business for locals and visitors to the region”.
