St Leonards 2010 Cabernet Franc $23
"Cabernet franc is usually used as a blending grape, particularly in Bordeaux in France, but here is a stand-alone wine - and quite a stunning one too; savoury and elemental, this is a far cry from the usually big, tannic style of Rutherglen reds.
Grown on sandy soils next to the Murray River, this is a medium-bodied red with dark berry and herbal aromas leading onto a palate wth bright fruit and fresh acidity. Oak takes a back seat. Delicious drinking."
