2016 All Saints Estate Sangiovese Cabernet

Winemaker says: We blend the best Rutherglen sangiovese (70 per cent) with pristine parcels of premium cabernet sauvignon (30 per cent). Cabernet’s vibrant notes of cassis and blackcurrant are woven beautifully through the savoury flavours of sangiovese. Medium red with a brick-coloured tinge at the rim, this wine has aromas of red berries and some herbal hints. On the palate there is lovely soft, ripe fruit with good, almost tart, acidity culminating in a dry, balanced finish.

2012 EVOI Margaret River The Satyr

Winemaker says: Intense cassis and blueberry aromas are supported by notes of plum, black olive, fresh tobacco leaf, cocoa and truffle. The palate is big and velvety, with a balance of fruit and savoury flavours held tightly together by the structure of petit verdot. The finish is seamless, with ripe tannins and integrated French oak. (80 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 10 per cent petit verdot, five per cent malbec and five per cent merlot.)

2015 Oakdene Single Vineyard Bernard’s Cabernets

Winemaker says: Inspired by the red wines of Bordeaux, this vineyard blend changes to reflect each vintage and to preserve our house style. Red and blackcurrants dominate the medium-bodied palate, and there’s a refreshing leafy edge. It has a structured-tannin backbone, firm acidity and bright, red-fruit characters. Co-fermented using wild yeast and matured in new and seasoned French oak barriques for 16 months. Enjoy now or cellar for five to 12 years. (47 per cent merlot, 40 per cent cabernet franc and 13 per cent cabernet sauvignon.)

2013 Squitchy Lane Cabernet Merlot

Winemaker says: Ruby hue with aromas of red fruit, plums and spicy oak. The palate is medium-bodied, sleek, harmonious and supple, with cabernet’s classic structure softened by the merlot. Cellaring potential of up to 10 years. (55 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 20 per cent cabernet franc and 25 per cent merlot.)

2015 Yarra Yering Agincourt Cabernet Malbec

Winemaker says: 75 per cent cabernet sauvignon and 25 per cent malbec. Exhibits classic cabernet characteristics of cassis and dark berries, along with a unique, leafy herbaceous flavour. The malbec plays its part with inky, robust plum and black cherry, plus its ample tannins to provide beautifully balanced structure.

2013 Blue Pyrenees Estate Red

Winemaker says: Deep, ruby red, with lifted aromas of red berries, forest floor and cedary oak. The palate shows generous mulberry fruit up front complemented by more mature, complex flavours of tobacco leaves, mushroom and French oak, with lingering fresh berry and choc-mint flavours on the finish. The structure of this blended red is framed by abundant yet integrated fine-grained tannins and delivers a traditional Old World style suitable for ageing. (73 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 19 per cent merlot, four per cent malbec and four per cent shiraz.)
