Terrace Restaurant, 1 Star

Turn off the C375 up All Saints’ stately elm-lined drive, and all the signs point to languid lunching ahead. There’s a helicopter parked on the lawns, a charging point for your Tesla, formal rose gardens, and a restaurant that makes the most of its bucolic location. The permanent marquee on this historic winery’s terrace overlooks a pond, blowzy shiraz vines and ghost gums. Inside, Simon Arkless’s refined menu changes daily, but you might get lobster in a chilled cucumber and tomato soup, or crisp-skinned estate-grown suckling pig with sweetcorn purée, spicy black beans and grilled pineapple salsa. Wines, naturally, are a strong suit, the estate wine by the glass, labels from further afield by the bottle. Lash out on a taste of the vineyard’s century-old museum muscat to go with that free-form mille-feuille of plums, candied pastry and crème fraiche ice-cream.
