A medium bodied dry red wine of deep ruby colour with aromas of cassis, violets and mixed spice. The palate of this Australian wine is firm, supported by fine structural tannins and balanced acidity.
On release, Pierre is great with all kinds of red meat dishes; Peter though preferred it with a Porterhouse steak. This magnum is perfect for a dinner party with friends and family. Pierre, a Rutherglen region red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes that also makes the perfect accompaniment to aged cheese.

The 2015 Pierre is a carefully crafted blend predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, each varietal bringing something special to this blend. Cabernet Sauvignon - lovely berry flavours and fine tannins; Cabernet Franc - lifted floral notes and Merlot completes the wine with a rich mid-palate.
Grapes were picked and fermented separately in open concrete fermenters. Each parcel was hand plunged, gently pressed out in our old 1880's basket press, then aged for 14 months in a combination of new and older premium oak prior to final blending and bottling.
These traditional Bordeaux varieties make up (in varying proportions) the famous Clarets of the Bordeaux region. They flower, set and ripen at different times, which is a shrewd way of spreading risk and resources. As with all blends, the intention is to make something which is greater than the sum of the parts.
